Dates / Deadlines:

There are currently no active application cycles for this program. If you were expecting to find an available application, there are few possible reasons why:

  1. If it is for a program starting anytime from summer 2025 to spring 2026, applications will not open until later: November 14, 2024 for summer 2025; November 20, 2024 for programs beginning fall 2025; and April 15, 2025 for programs beginning winter or spring 2026. However, deadlines will be available online. Consider signing up for alerts in your inbox with our interest list and on your phone with the UC Merced Connect app.
  2. If it is for an earlier term, the deadline for the program may have passed quite some time ago.
  3. If the program has limited spots, the program may now be full and no longer accepting new applications.

WHY STUDY IN CITY?
Havana is the capital city and leading commercial center of Cuba. Its signature architecture dots every corner of the city, lending a distinctly historic air to the casual, Caribbean atmosphere that permeates Cuban society. A colorful ocean view provides a postcard-perfect backdrop to the city, while the active discussions about history, politics, music, and baseball fill the air. Havana is past and future in one place, constantly evolving.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Ideal for adventurous, flexible students who want to connect with Cuban people, experience vibrant cultural life, and see the natural beauty of the Caribbean. Learn among Cuban peers and students from all over the world at Universidad de La Habana. Classes are taught in Spanish. Humanities and social sciences classes tend to be popular with IFSA students. With a homestay and engaging activities and excursions, you’ll get to know Cuba’s unique social and economic system.

ACTIVITIES & EXCURSIONS
Program activities and excursions are designed to enhance your intercultural competence by developing your understanding of the local culture and people. While optional, they are included in your total program fee. Activities and excursions vary each term based on availability, but may include:
