  YOUR ASA EXPERIENCE
You will receive individualized support from ASA’s advisors and staff throughout your program application process, while you are abroad, and when you return.

Before you depart we will work with you and the staff at your home institution to help you prepare for your time abroad by giving you personal access to our Student Success program, which will help you maximize your experience in your host country. You will also receive a detailed pre-departure orientation guide which will help you know what to pack, what to expect when you arrive, and how to stay safe while abroad.

Once you arrive in Vina del Mar you will participate in our onsite orientation with the other ASA students in your group. ASA’s site director will introduce you to your host city and culture through orientation and multiple events during the program. Our intentionally small group sizes allow ASA’s students to get to know one another and are an aspect of our programs for which our alumni consistently express their appreciation. You will have opportunities to meet other students and lots of new people through your classes, social events and optional language partners.

ASA programs include excursions, volunteer opportunities, housing, meals, academic credits, transcripts, mobile phones, airport pick-up on arrival, medical insurance and more! Contact ASA or your advisor to learn about ASA’s Price Guarantee for all of our programs.
 COURSES
Did you know that Vina del Mar is where the Chilean President resides for summers? Did you know it is also the most popular city for Chile’s college students? Nicknamed the Garden City with its mountains, valleys, hills and beaches it is certainly a place with great scenery! With approximately 5,000 enrolled students and not too many Americans, UVM has the perfect environment to be able to easily integrate with Chilean students, and receive personal attention from the faculty and International Office.

This program is for students at all levels of Spanish language. You will study Spanish grammar and conversation as well as Chilean culture with classmates from around the world. Electives taught in both English and Spanish in a number of different subject areas including: Latin American History, Film, Literature, Business Politics, and Social Issues. Language level placement exams are taken at the beginning of the program. A volunteer-based “Cultures in Contact” course is available for credit as well, providing the opportunity to supplement community involvement with classroom study.

A full list of classes for this program can be found on the ASA website through the link at the top of this page. If you have advanced Spanish language there is an option to study with Chilean students.
