Every year, dozens of UC Merced students fail to apply for the Gilman Scholarship. Don't be one of them. Talk to your advisor about the scholarship if you have any questions.
Requirements:
- Receive or be eligible to receive the Pell Grant (view your awards in the MyFinancialAid section of the UC Merced Portal)
- Apply for an accredited program such as UCEAP
- Study for 3 weeks or more in the summer, fall, spring, or year (the longer the better)
- Study in a country with an overall Travel Advisory Level 1 or 2, according to the U.S. Department of State’s Travel Advisory System.
- Students must be US citizens at the time of participation
- Other requirements may apply
Purpose:
- To promote study abroad among underrepresented groups withing study abroad (e.g. transfer students, science or engineering majors, minority students, non-traditional students, first-generation students, students with disabilities, etc.) while encouraging students to study at diverse destinations
